“Amazon doesn’t guess. It simulates.” That’s how they fix friction before it costs them a customer.

Before Amazon launches anything new, they run simulations with AI. Fake buyers. Fake scenarios. Real insights. It’s how they pressure-test product pages, ad copy, and customer flows before real users ever see them.

You can do the same thing to your homepage copy in five minutes. Here’s how.

How to Run the Amazon-Style Homepage Test

Step 1: Copy your homepage text. Grab everything — the headline, subhead, call to action, body copy, footer text, even button labels. The more complete the copy, the better the feedback.

Step 2: Drop it into ChatGPT with this prompt: Pretend you're a confused, skeptical customer seeing this for the first time. What’s clear? What’s confusing? What’s missing? What would stop you from trusting or buying?

Let the AI simulate how a real visitor might react.

Step 3: Switch perspectives. Run it again, but change the persona. Say things like:

  • Act like a competitor researching this page

  • Act like someone comparing three similar businesses

  • Act like someone who’s unsure what this company does

Each version surfaces different blind spots.

Step 4: Fix the friction. Rewrite anything that felt confusing, repetitive, or vague. Make your value obvious in the first few lines. Cut anything that doesn’t earn attention or move the visitor closer to action. Aim for clarity over clever.

Need help writing the prompt or cleaning up the feedback? Just send us a message. We’ll help.

Amazon tests every message before it ships. You can too.

Cheers,
Scott
